Beta

Beta Agreement

Version: v1.0 · Effective: May 2026

Welcome to Our Well. The following terms govern your use of the Our Well beta. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Eligibility and scope

Our Well is a web platform that supports breast cancer patients and the people who care for them. The beta is free to use. This agreement is interim and will be replaced by our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service before we launch our paid product later this year. Until then, this document governs your use of the service.

You must be 18 or older to use Our Well. The service is currently available to people in the United States only.

What we collect

To operate the product, we collect:

  • Account information you provide at signup (name, email, age confirmation).

  • Information about your diagnosis and treatment that you choose to share with Shelby — your diagnosis type, stage if known, treatment phase, and any household details you give us during onboarding.

  • Information extracted from lab reports and medical documents you upload or paste into the app for Shelby to explain. We extract the key facts (lab values, biomarkers, staging details) and then permanently delete the original document. We never retain the source file.

  • Your conversations with Shelby, so you can return to them and so she has the context to be useful to you.

  • Audio from appointments that you choose to record using our dictation feature. Audio is transcribed and then immediately deleted; only the transcript is retained.

  • Information about your village — the names and email addresses of the people you invite to your village page, and the actions they take on it.

  • Basic usage data — which screens you visit, which features you use. This data is sanitized so it never includes your name or anything you've said to Shelby.

Before any clinical information is stored in our database, we strip out personally identifiable details (name, date of birth, address, medical record number, physician names) and keep your identity and your medical information in separate places, joined only by an internal identifier.

How we use it and protect it

We use your information to personalize Shelby's responses, to keep your village page running, to send the people you invite the notifications you've set up, and to improve the product. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit, and access within our team is limited to the people who need it to support you.

We do not sell your information. We do not use your information to train Shelby for other users. We do not disclose your information to anyone outside the Our Well and Casper Studios teams without your permission.

Who else handles your data

To run the product, we rely on a small number of carefully chosen third-party service providers — such as Cloudflare for hosting and encryption, and Anthropic for Shelby's underlying AI. We've reviewed each one to confirm their data handling meets the bar we've set for the beta. A complete subprocessor list will be published with our full Privacy Policy at paid launch.

Shelby is not a doctor

Shelby is an AI companion designed to help you understand information, prepare for appointments, and coordinate support. She can explain your lab results in plain language and answer questions about your diagnosis using trusted medical sources. She is not a doctor, will not diagnose you, will not recommend a treatment, and is not a substitute for your care team. If anything Shelby says leaves you uncertain about what to do, please bring it to your doctor.

Caregiver accounts

If you invite a caregiver — a partner, family member, or close friend acting as your primary support person — they create their own account. You and your caregiver share access to your tasks, village page, and Plan Well. Each of you has private conversations with Shelby: you cannot see your caregiver's chats with her, and your caregiver cannot see yours.

Recording appointments

If you use Shelby to dictate notes during an appointment, you must first consent to the recording on your end, and your doctor must affirmatively consent on the device before any audio is captured. Recording does not begin until both consents are in place. Audio is transcribed and then immediately deleted; we retain only the transcript.

Wishing Well

Some items featured in your Wishing Well are linked through affiliate programs. For example, as an Amazon Associate, Our Well earns from qualifying purchases. The price you or your village pay is unaffected; we receive a small referral fee.

This is beta software

Our Well is being actively built while you're using it. You may encounter bugs, downtime, and rough edges. Features may change, be added, or be temporarily removed as we learn from beta testers like you. Your feedback is part of how we improve — please use the in-app feedback tool to tell us what's working and what isn't.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like a copy of your data, or if you'd like us to delete your account and everything we hold on you, email us at marycathryn@ourwell.life and we'll take care of it within 30 days. Deletion is permanent and removes your data from our primary database and from our subprocessors' systems.

For any privacy or data question — or if anything in this agreement is unclear — please email marycathryn@ourwell.life.

Acknowledgment

By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older, that you've read and agree to this beta agreement, and that you understand this is interim — replaced by our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service when we move to paid launch. We will notify you before that happens, and you'll have a chance to review and accept the updated terms.
