Our Well is a comprehensive web application designed to support cancer patients and their support networks. We offer AI-powered guidance through an intelligent companion named Shelby, diagnosis explanation, lab result interpretation, a shareable Village page for coordinating support, and task management tools. 2. Information from Children Under 13

Our Service is not directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information and terminate the child's account. 3. Information We Collect

We collect information about you when you create an account, use our Service, and interact with our features. The types of personal information we collect include:

3.1 Identity Data

When you create an account, we collect your name. If you choose to share your cancer diagnosis with us (which is optional), we may collect information about your cancer type, stage, and treatment phase. This information helps us personalize your experience and provide relevant AI-guided content through Shelby.

3.2 Contact Data

We collect your email address to communicate with you about your account, send service updates, and provide support.

3.3 Health Data

Our Well collects sensitive health information to power our personalized AI guidance features. This includes:

Diagnosis details (cancer type, stage if shared). Lab results and medical documents you upload for AI interpretation

  • Treatment phase and medical history you provide

  • Care updates and personal health notes you write

You have full control over what health information you share. Providing diagnosis and health details is optional and enhances the personalization of your experience, but is not required to use the Service.

3.4 Village Data

When you create a Village page, we collect and store the content you choose to share, including your care updates, task lists, supporter information (names and email addresses), and messages of support from your network.

3.5 Conversation Data

We store your chat conversations with Shelby (our AI companion) to maintain context across your sessions and improve your personalized experience. We also track which suggested prompts you use within Shelby to understand which features are most helpful.

3.6 Technical Data

When you access our Service, we automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and usage analytics through our analytics platform (PostHog). This information helps us improve the Service and troubleshoot technical issues.

3.7 Profile Data

We collect your account preferences, responses provided during onboarding, and optional household information (if you choose to share it).

4. How We Collect Information

We collect information in the following ways:

Directly from you. When you register for an account, update your profile, upload documents, write care updates, or interact with our features

  • Automatically when you access our Service, including through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies

  • From third-party authentication providers (Google SSO) when you choose to sign in with your Google account

  • From our analytics platform (PostHog) which collects usage data about how you interact with our Service

6. Health Information and AI Processing

Our Well collects and processes sensitive health information including your cancer diagnosis, treatment details, lab results, and medical documents. This section explains how we handle this data.

6.1 Use of Health Data

Your health information is used exclusively to personalize your experience with Our Well. Specifically, we use it to:

Power Shelby's AI-generated responses and guidance tailored to your specific diagnosis and treatment stage. Interpret and explain lab results and medical documents you upload

  • Display accurate information on your Village page (which you control)

6.2 HIPAA Status

Our Well is not a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate. However, we recognize the sensitive nature of health information and take data protection very seriously. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your health data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.

6.3 Medical Document Processing

When you upload medical documents (lab results, medical records, etc.) for AI interpretation, we extract relevant information from these documents to provide you with explanations and insights. Extracted data is retained in your account to maintain context for future conversations. The source documents themselves may not be permanently retained after processing, but extracted information remains available in your account history.

7. AI Processing and Shelby

Shelby, our AI companion, processes your personal data to provide personalized guidance and support.

7.1 How Shelby Works

Shelby uses your health information, conversation history, and account details to generate relevant, personalized responses. Your conversation history is stored in our systems to maintain continuity across your sessions and to improve the quality of personalized guidance.

7.2 AI Training and Improvement

We use aggregated, de-identified data and conversation data to improve Shelby's performance and Our Well's features. Individual conversation transcripts and personal data are not used to train our models without appropriate safeguards.

7.3 Informational Use Only

Shelby's responses are informational and educational in nature. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You should always consult with qualified healthcare providers about your diagnosis, treatment options, and medical decisions.

8. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

8.1 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf, including cloud hosting providers, analytics platforms, AI processing services, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to Our Well and must maintain appropriate security measures.

8.2 Legal Compliance and Safety

We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with legal obligations; (b) protect the rights, privacy, or safety of Our Well, our users, or the public; or (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

9. Your Village Page and Sharing

Your Village page is a private space where you can share your health journey and coordinate support from friends and family.

9.1 Controlling What You Share

You control exactly what appears on your Village page. You decide what diagnosis information, bio details, care updates, and task lists to include. Once you create a Village page, you receive a unique, shareable link.

9.2 Who Can See Your Village Page

Only people you explicitly share your Village page link with can view your page. When someone accesses your Village page via the link you share, they can see: your name, cancer diagnosis information (if you chose to share it), your bio, your care tasks, and your care updates. They cannot see your full account details, Shelby conversations, or any information you didn't explicitly choose to display on your Village page.

9.3 Supporter Access

When you add supporters to help coordinate tasks, you provide their names and email addresses. We use this information only to help you manage and coordinate care. Supporters access your Village page through the link you share; they do not receive your full account information.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we use industry-standard protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

11. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as necessary to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal or business purposes.

Conversation history with Shelby is retained in your account to maintain context. If you delete specific conversations, those records are removed. Deleting your account will delete all associated data unless legal obligations require retention.

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

You can access and download a copy of your personal information by logging into your account or by requesting it from support@ourwell.life.

12.2 Correction and Deletion

You can correct inaccurate information through your account settings. You can request deletion of your personal data by contacting support@ourwell.life. We will comply with your request within a reasonable timeframe.

12.3 Opt-Out of Communications

You can opt out of non-essential communications (such as promotional emails) by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by updating your notification preferences in your account settings. You cannot opt out of service-essential communications (such as account security alerts).
